For the evaluation of The British Academy Wolfson Fellowships scheme Powellite interviewed award holders, line managers, mentors and a counterfactual group (unsuccessful applicants). The feedback highlighted that the awards had enabled teaching buyout and enabled early career researchers to complete their monograph, a book and scientific publications. The Fellowship broadened award holders’ territorial and research scope, resulting in numerous new collaborations across international academic institutions, museums and archives. The impact of the award holders’ work extended far beyond academia, enabling the delivery of exhibitions and workshops, development of learning materials, artworks and podcasts.
